Community Impact Partnership

Pro Bono Web Design for Nonprofits & Charities

83 Creative donates professional digital strategy, design, and development to a small number of mission-driven nonprofits each year. The same senior team and the same standard of work we bring to paying clients, at no charge for our time, so your website can do justice to the work you do.

Why We Do This

Good Work Deserves a Website That Keeps Up

We spend our days building websites for associations and nonprofits, and we see the same thing again and again: organizations doing genuinely important work, held back by a website they are almost embarrassed to share. A donation flow that breaks. A page that falls apart on a phone. Content nobody can find. For a large organization that is a line item. For a small charity running on volunteers and grants, it can be the difference between a supporter giving and clicking away.

The Community Impact Partnership is how we give that work away. A few times a year we take on a nonprofit as a pro bono partner and do the same caliber of strategy, design, and development we would do for anyone else. No interns, no stripped-down template, no catch. We treat these projects with the same care as our paid work, because the organizations deserve it and because we are proud to put our name on them.

Who It's For

Built for Small, Mission-Driven Organizations

Any nonprofit is welcome to apply. That said, this program is built for small, under-resourced organizations, so that is who we prioritize. As a general guide we focus on charities and nonprofits under roughly $1M in annual revenue, as reported on your most recent IRS Form 990, and to start we are concentrating on organizations under about $500,000. We read every application, and revenue is a guide, not a hard cutoff.

A strong fit
  • A registered nonprofit or charity that files an IRS Form 990
  • Generally under ~$1M in annual revenue (per your 990), smaller especially welcome
  • A clear mission and an active program, not just an idea
  • A website that is outdated, broken, or nonexistent
  • Someone on staff or the board who can be our point of contact
Not this program
  • For-profit companies or individuals
  • Purely political or single-candidate campaign sites
  • Requests for general IT support or unrelated technical services
  • Organizations looking only for free, ongoing operational maintenance
What You Get

Senior Digital Work, Donated in Full

Strategy & Discovery

We start by understanding your mission and goals, then define the focus of the work together during onboarding.

Custom Design & Build

A modern, custom effort, from targeted improvements to a full redesign or rebuild, designed and developed by our senior team.

Accessibility & Performance

Built with accessibility in mind and technically optimized, so the site is fast and every supporter can use it on any device.

Structure & UX

Clearer site structure and user experience, so the people you serve and the supporters you need can find what matters.

WordPress + Pantheon

We recommend and build on WordPress with Pantheon hosting, chosen for reliability and ease for nonprofit teams. The final choice stays yours.

Training & Full Handoff

A working session plus a clean handoff. You keep full ownership and admin access to the codebase, design, and content.

What It Costs You

Typically Under $1,000 Out of Pocket

The strategy, design, and development are donated. We never bill for our time. Your organization covers only the external costs every website carries, and for most organizations those total under $1,000.

You cover

Hosting, domain registration, any premium plugins or software, third-party services, and stock imagery. Typically under $1,000 all-in.

We cover

All of the professional work: strategy, design, development, accessibility, structure, training, and handoff. That is the donation.

Timeline

Most projects are completed within three to four months, flexing with scope and how quickly content and feedback come together.

What We Ask in Return

A Fair Trade

A footer credit

A small line in your website footer reading "Designed by: 83 Creative LLC," linked to 83creative.com. It stays unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Your story

Permission to feature the finished project in our portfolio and case studies, and to reference your organization as a partner. You may be asked for a short testimonial.

A real partner

An engaged point of contact who can share access, gather content, give feedback, and keep the project moving.

The Process

How It Works

STEP 01

Apply

Fill out the short form below. It takes about ten minutes.

STEP 02

We Review

We read every application and shortlist the strongest fits each cycle.

STEP 03

We Align

A short call and an onboarding conversation to define goals, scope, and timeline together.

STEP 04

We Build

We strategize, design, build, train your team, and hand everything off. On us.

How We Work Together

Straightforward, on Purpose

These projects run on collaboration, not a contract you need a lawyer for. Work happens mostly asynchronously, with a response window of around 24 hours and meetings scheduled as needed. Our time typically averages up to about ten hours a week, and because this is pro bono, timelines flex with scope and availability. Either side can step away with 14 days' written notice, and any completed work is yours. It is a best-effort partnership offered in good faith, not an employment or vendor relationship.

Application

Tell Us About Your Organization

Tell us who you are, what you do, and where your current site falls short. It takes about ten minutes, and there is no cost to apply.

  • We reply within two weeks. If you are a fit for the current cycle, you will hear from us. If not, we keep strong applications on file for future cycles.
  • Any nonprofit can apply. We prioritize small, under-resourced organizations, but revenue is a guide, not a hard cutoff.
  • You keep everything. Full ownership of the finished site, its code, design, and content, from day one.
