Senior Content Strategist

Apply Now
Remote | US-Based Full-Time 7+ Years Competitive salary commensurate with senior-level experience
[01] About This Role

You will own content strategy across client engagements: audits, taxonomy design, migration planning, voice and tone guidelines, SEO strategy, and hands-on editorial work. You will be the person who tells a client that 40% of their existing content should not move to the new site, and then helps them decide what stays, what gets rewritten, and what gets retired.

You will not be doing keyword stuffing or churning out thin blog posts. The work is substantive and editorial, with real accountability for how members experience the site post-launch.

[02] What You Will Do
  • Run audits: Run content audits across sites with 100 to 1,000+ pages: inventory, quality scoring, gap analysis
  • Design taxonomies: Design taxonomies, tag structures, and metadata schemas that actually hold up
  • Migration planning: Build content migration plans: what moves, what gets rewritten, what retires
  • Editorial standards: Develop voice and tone guidelines and editorial standards for client teams
  • Write and edit: Write and edit long-form content when the client needs us to: web copy, resource library articles, policy pages
  • SEO: Own SEO strategy: on-page optimization, internal linking, keyphrase research, technical SEO coordination with dev
[03] What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: Seven or more years of content strategy experience, with at least three leading projects end-to-end
  • Audits: Proven content audit methodology: you can show us a spreadsheet and walk us through how you scored quality
  • Editorial: Strong editorial background: you can write cleanly and edit other people’s work to the same standard
  • SEO tools: Working knowledge of modern SEO (Yoast, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, schema markup)
  • Migration: Experience planning content migrations for WordPress, Drupal, or comparable CMSes
  • Communication: Clear communication: you can tell a client their content is outdated without being combative
Nice to Have
  • Prior work with associations, nonprofits, or membership organizations
  • Accessibility writing: plain language, WCAG-friendly content structure
  • Analytics fluency (GA4, Looker Studio) to tie content decisions to behavior data
  • Some experience with headless CMS or structured content models
[04] What We Offer
  • Competitive salary commensurate with senior-level experience
  • Fully remote, US-based: no required hours or fixed schedule as long as deliverables ship
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Annual stipend for professional development, conferences, and editorial tooling
  • Work that matters: our clients are trade associations and nonprofits, not ad-tech
